Hair Removal
The presence of hair in certain regions of the body, may be acceptable for some people, but not for others. Unwanted hair is a real problem for many people and can be uncomfortable to live with. Cambridge Skin & Laser Clinic can help.
Treatment Approaches
There are a number of traditional methods of removing unwanted hair: shaving, plucking, waxing, depilatory creams and electrolysis - all of which can be painful, time consuming or only temporarily effective.
Laser Technology
Since 1995, lasers have become the 'gold standard' method of hair removal. More recently intense pulsed light systems (IPL) have increasingly been used as an alternative.
Not all lasers are equally effective for all the different combinations of hair types and skin colour. For this reason, Cambridge Skin & Laser Clinic offer three different laser systems (Diode, Ruby, NdYAG) and IPL to ensure optimal hair removal.
Because we offer an extensive range of hair removal lasers and IPL we can truly recommend the system that is best suited to your individual hair and skin type. Whichever system we recommend, you can be assured that we are not using it because it is all we have to offer but because it is the best choice for you .
Comparison of Laser and Light Based Hair Removal Systems
Diode Laser (810 nm)
This laser is suitable for all skin types and for darker thicker hairs. It is less effective for lighter and finer hairs. It is effective and fast enabling rapid treatment of large body areas. We believe that our diode laser provides the very best balance of results, speed and comfort.
Ruby Laser (694 nm)
This laser is an excellent choice for fine and light hairs but its use is limited to lighter skin types.
NdYAG Laser (1064 nm)
This laser is ideal for darker skin types and is effective for thicker dark hairs, however, it is much less effective for fine and light hairs, causes more discomfort during treatment and is relatively slow.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL ) (570-950 nm)
The IPL devices are not lasers. They produce broadband light energy of many different wavelengths. It should be noted, however, that IPL devices are as a rule less effective at a given task than a laser dedicated to that purpose.

By offering a full range of laser systems and IPL Cambridge Skin and Laser Clinic is able to achieve superior hair removal for all skin types and most hair types.
